When Schramm closed its doors, many drilling contractors were left asking the same question: ‘Who can keep these rigs running?’
The answer has become the Geoprobe® East Coast Service Center (ECSC). A team built on decades of Schramm expertise, parts knowledge, and skilled service, including five team members with previous experience in the Schramm organization.
For North Carolina-based N.W. Poole Well & Pump Company, keeping production on track meant adapting.
“When Schramm went out of business, we decided to refurbish our fleet instead,” Kevin Letchworth, owner, said. “David Sim and Dave Harrison are very responsive. We were very pleased with the communication and the whole project. They did what they said they would do in the time frame they said they would.”
The results spoke for themselves.
“We’ve been very happy with it — there’s nothing I would change,” Letchworth said. “It has exceeded our expectations.”
His advice to other Schramm owners is simple:
“Give the Geoprobe® guys a call. David and Dave came from Schramm, and they have Schramm parts around… It’s very refreshing for something in this industry to go as planned,” Letchworth said.
At Petersheim Brothers in southeastern Pennsylvania, reliable Schramm service keeps a multi-generation business moving forward.
“They’ve repaired hydraulic pumps, worked on our derrick, serviced our air compressor, and sent us various parts and hoses,” Colt Berg, fifth-generation driller, said. “Not many people work on Schramm rigs, so it’s a big plus that they’re close by and able to get us what we need quickly.”
When Berg brought on a new driller, ECSC service lead Dave Harrison traveled to their shop for hands-on training.
“Since Dave had worked on the rig, he offered an experienced, neutral perspective on wear points and preventative maintenance,” Berg said. “Now the driller knows what to look for, and we can avoid breakdowns.”
The payoff?
“If our rig is down, so is our business,” Berg said. “They keep us running, and they’ve helped us move from reactive repairs to planned maintenance.”
For mine-stabilization contractor Howard Concrete Pumping, fast access to Schramm parts keeps crews productive in remote locations.
“We had the rig in Wyoming on a job site, and they had the part we needed on the shelf,” Dan Janesko, equipment manager, said. “They overnighted it so we could get back to work with minimal downtime.”
From troubleshooting over the phone to sourcing hard-to-find components, ECSC has become his single point of contact.
“They know what I’m talking about before I even get it said, and that comes from experience,” Janesko said. “It’s one call and the job is taken care of.”
Across Pennsylvania, contractors like Edward Powell Pump & Well Drilling and FE Buehler & Sons rely on ECSC for everything from compressors and hoses to training and emergency support.
“Dave Harrison is so awesome and has a wealth of knowledge,” said Steve Circelli, co-owner of Edward Powell Pump & Well Drilling. “As soon as you call, he answers.”
For FE Buehler & Sons, the value goes beyond parts.
“It’s a real peace of mind to know if something catastrophic happens, someone has our backs,” John Buehler, co-owner, said.
