Sonic Casing

Discover one-stop shopping for a wide array of sonic bits and sampling systems, including unique soil sampling systems available only from Geoprobe®. Geoprobe Systems® engineers and manufactures in-house a full family of sonic tooling, including casing in a wide range of sizes, bits to match, inner rods, samplers, liners, and retainers.

Bit life, sample recovery rates, and increased penetration rates are all key factors when determining the reliability of sonic tooling. Our coring bits, most commonly used in ‘core and case’ applications, feature different carbide button configurations, water channels for flushing cuttings, and provisions for the use of core catchers to help retain sampled material in the sampler.

Sonic Tools Advantages

  • All sizes of Geoprobe® Sonic Casing are made from aircraft alloy steel with heat treated tool joints. All heat treatment, metal improvement, and machining is performed by Geoprobe Systems® to give you the high quality and consistency you have come to expect in a Genuine Geoprobe® product.
  • Geoprobe® sonic tooling joints are engineered for ease of make-up and break-out with no galling or deforming in the thread area. Field operators report they can immediately tell the difference.
  • Our sonic tools offer you the widest array of sonic drill bits and sampling systems available; from conventional telescoping soil coring to dual tubing and face flush bits for rock coring. It’s all available from Geoprobe®, it’s economically priced and it’s on the shelf now.

Sonic Drill Casing

We carry casing on the shelf in a variety of lengths. Multiple sonic soil and groundwater sampling uses include:

  • Conventional Sonic Sampling (4x6, 6x8, 8x10)
  • Dual Tube Sampling (SDT45 & SDT60 )
  • Single Casing System: Cased Hole w/o Sampling

Sonic Tooling Systems for Efficient Sampling

Choose from a wide assortment of options to achieve reliable and consistent project results. You'll find the sonic tooling system required to successfully achieve the job specifications for a range of projects such as:

  • sampling soils in an environmental investigation
  • collecting geotechnical data for construction
  • penetrating rock for bedrock wells
  • casing a hole for a geothermal project

Conventional Sonic Sampling

Made easier with incremental casing sized with bit clearances and annular space in mind, reducing sticking in certain soils or excessive water to flush the soil between casings. 4X6, 6X8 and 8X10 available.

Dual Tube

Collect samples more quickly when advancing the drill casing and inner rod string together and reduce operator fatigue by utilizing smaller 2.25-inch center rods. Available in SDT45 and SDT60.

Double Wall

SDW45 complements the conventional 4X6 and SDT45 sonic sampling systems to provide a representative sample in consolidated formations by leaving the core unaffected by water.

Weighted Wireline

Designed to complement the standard SDT45 and SDT60 sonic tooling, the core barrel uses a simple weight system to hold it in place at the bottom of the tool string for quicker, more efficient trip out times, resulting in lower maintenance costs, and minimal parts to operate.

Tooling Links

I’ve used all of the different sonic tooling, and the Geoprobe® tooling is matched up nicely to transfer energy to the bit so it drills well. The price point is also good. Having the same manufacturer means I can get everything – rig, tooling, service parts – from one place, which makes it easy on me.
