Now you have two options for rotary work.  The GA4100 four-speed augerhead (shown) provides the same high torque (4,000 ft. lb.) as the popular GA4000 but with two additional high speeds pushing its top speed over 700 rpm.  The result is a compact drill head with versatile performance for drilling jobs varying from torquing-in hollow stem augers to high-speed rock coring applications.  Shifting between speeds is as simple as touching a toggle switch to shift-on-the-fly from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th.  A manual lever on the head is used to shift from 2nd to 3rd.  The GA4100 and the two-speed GA4000 are integrated onto a swing-out mounting system.

The 7822DT can be equipped with an automatic drop hammer (optional) for performing SPT testing for geotechnical investigations. The 7822DT can advance borings for SPT testing by augering, driven casing and sampling, or wash boring. The compact size of the 7822DT enables it to access remote areas.

Overhead hydraulic winches are an essential part of many drilling operations. Several hydraulic winch options are available for the Geoprobe® 7822DT to build a rig to meet your specific needs. The winch option that provides maximum versatility is the dual winch system. This is typically configured with a 2,500-lb. winch for the more difficult pulling and an 1,100-lb. winch for the faster, deeper wireline work. The 2,500-lb. winch operates at up to 125 feet per minute and includes 75 feet of wire rope. The 1,100-lb. winch operates at 220 feet per minute and includes 250 feet of wire rope. The 1,100-lb. winch come equipped with a quick-change hook and overshot clevis - a feature exclusive to Geoprobe Systems®. When ready to switch from pulling to coring, simply swap out the swivel hook for the overshot clevis installed on your overshot, and continue working. It’s quick, simple, and can all be done by hand. A single winch system is also available for 78 series machines, when a dual winch may not be necessary. When machine transport height is a limiting factor, a single winch system with a rotating mast top is available. This configuration reduces transport height by 14 inches and is helpful when loading the rig into an enclosed trailer or shipping container.

All of the machine’s functions are at your fingertips in a well-organized, compact control panel.  The new Systems Display, standard on the updated 7822DT control panel, provides real-time systems analysis and a suite of built-in diagnostic tools. Also included are system safeguards that protect the main engine and hydraulic components when important operational parameters are compromised.  It’s all there to assist the rig operator.

With an adjustable clamp force of up to 17,500 lbf., the 7822DT breakout has an opening of 7 in. with hardened jaw pads to firmly grip casing.  The breakout, which can be positioned either under the hammer or the auger drive, has a side pivot allowing it to swing over and away from the hole when not in use.  The breakout can be retrofitted on to all 7822DT rigs already in the field.  An optional Coring Upgrade Kit (217024) is also available to firmly grip thin-walled 2.75 in. OD casing without damage to the casing.  The kit includes formed jaw pads and a circle wrench with carbide inserts.

Recently, the version 3 7822DT was released. This update focused on increased stability, enhanced hydraulic cooling, and decreased fuel consumption. Below are some details.

Increased Stability
More than ever, customers are taking the 7822DT to sites that include difficult terrain.  The proven track undercarriage has been widened 9.5 inches.  Increased track width improves stability on sideslopes, especially when hauling tools in optional side racks.  The track system has also been moved forward 6 inches in relation to the powertrain and drill mast.  Why?  Over the last few years we’ve seen an increase in customers who are ‘loading the drillmast’ with optional features for rotary applications (i.e. 4 speed coring head, dual winches, breakout, etc).  These features add weight to the drillmast portion of the rig.  By moving the tracks forward users will experience better fore/aft stability making it easier for users to operate on job sites safely.

Enhanced Hydraulic Cooling
Load sense hydraulics of the V3 machines supply only the system pressure required to perform requested tasks.  Under light or no load conditions, system pressure is lowered, significantly reducing heating of the hydraulic fluid.  This feature is especially helpful when operating in elevated ambient temperatures and performing high duty cycle operations such as coring, augering, or tracking long distances.

Decreased Fuel Consumption
The V3 operational controls allow the hydraulic system load on the engine to vary depending on the need of the requested task.  For many operations, engine load is reduced and therefore less fuel is consumed as compared to systems that maintain high operating pressures for every task regardless of need.

The Geoprobe® DT22 Soil Sampling System is a direct push system for collecting continuous core samples of unconsolidated materials from within a sealed casing of Geoprobe® 2.25 in. outside diameter probe rods. Samples are collected and retrieved within a liner that is threaded onto the leading end of a string of Geoprobe® 1.25 in. OD light-weight center rods and are inserted to the bottom of the outer casing.

The DT35 Soil Sampling System, designed for use with 3.5 in. probe rods, uses a unique combination of the cutting shoe, sheath, and liner retainer to allow efficient recovery of samples in formations ranging from plastic clays to saturated sands. The DT35 system is designed to quickly recover samples well below the water table. Problems with liner failure or having the liner lodge in sample sheath are virtually eliminated with this system.

The Geoprobe® Screen Point 22 System

The Geoprobe® Screen Point 22 System

The Screen Point 22 (SP22) Groundwater Sampler from Geoprobe Systems® was designed to keep the screen away from all percussive energy while the sampler is lowered downhole, thus extending the life of the screen.

The SP22 can be used alone as a groundwater grab sampler or groundwater profiling tool, or with the DT22 Soil Sampling System. The screens can be deployed using either 1.25-in. Lightweight Center Rods or PVC riser.

The screen head adapts to either a stainless steel or PVC screen. Designed for tough probing conditions, the fully retrievable sampler works well with the 8040DT machine or with 77 or 66 Series machines.

MC5 Light Weight Center Rod Soil Sampling System The MC5 1.25 in. Center Rod System was designed for the absolute worst of the worst direct push probing conditions. “These are conditions that we normally do not recommend probing in,” according to Mike Carlin, Project Engineer, “so we developed the toughest soil sampling system in the direct push industry ... it’s a brute!”

Our patented interlocking split spoon sampler is a unique geotechnical innovation from Geoprobe® that is engineered to greatly benefit your field team. It is built to be 2X stronger, last longer, and saves both money and field time over a conventional split spoon. Additionally, it meets ASTM Standard D1586.

The interlocking design provides axial alignment of the tube halves, making for a quicker assembly of the sampler. Each time it goes together it self aligns, creating a perfect fit. With the threads aligned, the cutting shoe and drive head can be threaded to the split spoon. The threads are a multi-lead, which requires fewer turns during assembly and disassembly over conventional split spoons. Less time is spent during assembly and disassembly, which speeds up each test interval.

In additional to time savings, the interlocking split sheath has two times the strength and durability of conventional split spoons. Enhanced material properties and manufacturing result in greater longevity. Design plays an important role as well. Each interlocking point keeps the two tube halves engaged throughout the sampling process. The strength of these connections prevents the sampler from bulging in dense materials. It also keeps the tube halves tightly engaged even when over-filling of the sampler occurs.

This tool sure makes life easier in the field. In the middle of a busy day, you don’t need the hassles associated with a stubborn, stuck liner.

The Geoprobe® Hydraulic Liner Extruder is simple to use and can be adapted to most Geoprobe® machines with auxiliary hydraulics. “It mounts to the machine’s side receiver hitches in just a few minutes,” says Dave Golden, Project Lead, “and it’s perfect for pushing sluggish or stuck liners from the Macro-Core® sample tubes.” A two-piece adapter converts the extruder assembly to accommodate larger diameter DT325 sample tubes. “It won’t get every liner every time,” Dave added, “but our customers will appreciate having this device in the field for all of the stuck liners it does free.”

Using the Hydraulic Liner Extruder is simple. A Macro-Core®, DT22, DT325, or DT45 Sample Tube with the sluggish liner is threaded on to the front end of the extruder. As the hydraulic "push" is applied to the opposite end of the extruder, the liner is slowly pushed from inside the Sample Tube and out the end of the extruder.

Samples are collected and retrieved within a liner that is threaded onto the leading end of a string of Geoprobe® 1.25 in. OD light-weight center rods and are inserted to the bottom of the outer casing.

The Screen Point 22 (SP22) Groundwater Sampler from Geoprobe Systems® was designed to keep the screen away from all percussive energy while the sampler is lowered downhole, thus extending the life of the screen.

The SP22 can be used alone as a groundwater grab sampler or groundwater profiling tool, or with the DT22 Soil Sampling System. The screens can be deployed using either 1.25-in. Lightweight Center Rods or PVC riser.

The screen head adapts to either a stainless steel or PVC screen. Designed for tough probing conditions, the fully retrievable sampler works well with the 8040DT machine or with 77 or 66 Series machines.

Our patented interlocking split spoon sampler is a unique geotechnical innovation from Geoprobe® that is engineered to greatly benefit your field team. It is built to be 2X stronger, last longer, and saves both money and field time over a conventional split spoon. Additionally, it meets ASTM Standard D1586.

The interlocking design provides axial alignment of the tube halves, making for a quicker assembly of the sampler. Each time it goes together it self aligns, creating a perfect fit. With the threads aligned, the cutting shoe and drive head can be threaded to the split spoon. The threads are a multi-lead, which requires fewer turns during assembly and disassembly over conventional split spoons. Less time is spent during assembly and disassembly, which speeds up each test interval.

In additional to time savings, the interlocking split sheath has two times the strength and durability of conventional split spoons. Enhanced material properties and manufacturing result in greater longevity. Design plays an important role as well. Each interlocking point keeps the two tube halves engaged throughout the sampling process. The strength of these connections prevents the sampler from bulging in dense materials. It also keeps the tube halves tightly engaged even when over-filling of the sampler occurs.

This tool sure makes life easier in the field. In the middle of a busy day, you don’t need the hassles associated with a stubborn, stuck liner.

The Geoprobe® Hydraulic Liner Extruder is simple to use and can be adapted to most Geoprobe® machines with auxiliary hydraulics. “It mounts to the machine’s side receiver hitches in just a few minutes,” says Dave Golden, Project Lead, “and it’s perfect for pushing sluggish or stuck liners from the Macro-Core® sample tubes.” A two-piece adapter converts the extruder assembly to accommodate larger diameter DT325 sample tubes. “It won’t get every liner every time,” Dave added, “but our customers will appreciate having this device in the field for all of the stuck liners it does free.”

Using the Hydraulic Liner Extruder is simple. A Macro-Core®, DT22, DT325, or DT45 Sample Tube with the sluggish liner is threaded on to the front end of the extruder. As the hydraulic "push" is applied to the opposite end of the extruder, the liner is slowly pushed from inside the Sample Tube and out the end of the extruder.
