I’m Lee Shaw with Geoprobe Systems®. Today I would like to introduce you to the two-and a quarter inch Spring Assisted Swivel Pull Cap.

Today's larger machines enable operators to handle long sections of inner rods with the overhead winch. The two-and a quarter inch Spring Assisted Swivel Pull Cap is designed to reduce operator fatigue when adding or removing these sections of rods to the inner tool string.

With a standard pull cap, the weight of the above ground rods rests on the tool joint being unthreaded. As joints are unthreaded, the thread surface has to work against this weight making unthreading very difficult.

With the two-and a quarter inch Spring Assisted Swivel Pull Cap, the internal springs of the pull cap bear the weight of the rod string. With minimal effort, the operator can adjust the rod string up or down when threading or unthreading rods. The operator is physically lifting less weight to align the rods.

The mechanics of the pull cap provide natural self-alignment of the suspended rod string, preventing tipping off center and binding of the threads.
