GeoTek Alaska drilling with the Geoprobe® 8150LS Sonic Drilling Rig
Using a Geoprobe® 8150LS rotary sonic, GeoTek Alaska drills at -38 degrees Fahrenheit in alluvial sands and gravels of the Tanana Basin near Fairbanks, Alaska. The 8150LS was mobilized, complete with rod handler and GV5 50K sonic head, in a 40-foot container. Project scope was to investigate the distribution of permafrost and install well clusters to evaluate vertical hydraulic gradients. Site drillers valued the centerline side shift of the head to efficiently collect large volume, high-quality samples while the rod handler provided additional safety and ease.
