FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 11, 2019
SALINA, KANSAS – The first Contaminated Site Conference July 2-4, 2019, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, includes two sessions by Geoprobe® Geologist Wes McCall as part of the broad selection of technical presentations and posters on contaminated site management.
During the morning High Resolution Characterization (INVESTIGAÇÃO DE ALTA RESOLUÇÃO) session July 2, McCall will provide a presentation about application of the Geoprobe® Membrane Interface Hydraulic Profiling Tool (MIHPT) system. The MIP (Membrane Interface Probe) detects volatile hydrocarbon and solvent contamination along with bulk soil electrical conductance while the HPT (Hydraulic Profiling Tool) portion of the probe measures the pressure required to inject a flow of water into the soil as it is advanced into the subsurface as an indicator of formation permeability.
During the morning session about Innovative Technology (TECNOLOGIAS INOVADORAS) on July 4, McCall will be presenting about application of the Geoprobe® Optical Imaging Hydraulic Profiling Tool (OIHPT). OIP (Optical Image Profiler) is used for the delineation of non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) hydrocarbon fuels and oils which can also be combined with the HPT logging system.
As a licensed geologist, McCall has managed investigations using direct push technology for more than 25 years. He joined Geoprobe® in 1995 where he conducts applications research related to groundwater, environmental and geotechnical investigations. As an active member in the ASTM International D18 Subcommittee on direct push technology, McCall has assisted in development of several standards. He is currently working with the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) Advanced Site Characterization Tools (ASCT) team. McCall has been involved with field studies about application of the MIHPT, HPT and OIP logging systems, publishing articles about these studies and providing multiple conference presentations.
The conference organized by the Brazilian Association of Environmental Engineering and Consulting Firms (AESAS) anticipates more than 1,000 attendees representing regulators, academia, researchers, consultants, environmental laboratories, technology providers and industrial clients from all over the world. AESAS works for the consolidation and strengthening of the environmental industry through partnerships with environmental agencies, governmental entities, industries and universities.
With a number of Geoprobe® clients in Brazil, McCall will be joined by Adam McMath, Geoprobe® international sales representative.
