Groundwater Profiler
1.
Outer Rod Installation
Larger rods may be advanced to the top of the sampling interval to prevent
clogging of the screen with fines.
2.
Point Removal
A pre-probe is used to dislodge the expendable point from the 2.25 in.
rods. If need, add DI water to the rods before knocking out the point
to prevent formation heave.
3.
Advancement and Sampling
The Profiler is lowered through the outer rods and advanced to the first
sampling interval. Purging and sampling may be conducted with the tubing
check valve or a peristaltic pump. Peristaltic pump flow may be reversed
during advancement to minimize screen clogging. Once sampling is completed
the Proflier is advanced to the next depth by addition of 1.25 in. rods.
4.
Screen Isolation
The screen and sample may be isolated from the rod bore with a tubing
adapter and poly tubing.
5.
Abandonment Grouting
Bottom-up pressure grouting is conducted with the grout pull cap and one
of the GS Series grout machines.
